Kansas City, KS
Hell Night at Lakeside Speedway is a live, interactive drama that immerses you in a gripping, edge-of-your-seat experience. Through vivid performances and chilling scenes, the drama explores the consequences of life's darkest choices, creating a haunting atmosphere that leaves you captivated and uneasy.
Lawrence
Some spirits find it hard to leave Lawrence, and we don't blame them. With a pre-Civil War history as fiery and volatile as ours, Lawrence has more than a few ghosts and haunts.
Lawrence's history of urban legends is why Eric Kripke, creator of the cult drama Supernatural, chose Lawrence as the birthplace of evil-fighting adventurers Sam and Dean Winchester.
Those who know Lawrence are likely familiar with the Eldridge Hotel from its presence on iconic Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence, but how much do you know about its history? First built by New England settlers in 1855 as the Free State Hotel, it was attacked and burned to the ground by pro-slavery forces in 1856.
The Eldridge Hotel's haunted history might be one of the more well-known stories, but it isn't the only one. Visit Explore Lawrence to discover more of Lawrence's haunted history.
Leavenworth
Leavenworth is a spirited city, and it owes a lot of its spooky history to our 200-year-old neighbor, Fort Leavenworth. Stories of ghostly activity include apparitions of lost soldiers wandering the grounds of Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and the phantom sound of hoofbeats as a spectral cavalry rides the West Parade.
You can go on your own paranormal investigation on Oct. 24 with the fort’s annual Haunted Walking Tour, with costumed re-enactors leading you on a journey through frontier history.
