Summer may be winding down, but there's still plenty of time to soak up the season across Northeast Kansas. From immersive nighttime performances to small-town road trips, farmers' markets to family game nights, communities throughout Northeast Kansas are having one last hurrah before the leaves start to turn. Whether you're chasing live music, outdoor adventure, or just a little extra family time, here's where to find the best end-of-summer fun close to home.
Overland Park — Immerse yourself in Terra Luna, a spellbinding experience at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. This event guides guests on a wild journey through the Arboretum's grounds, culminating in an immersive performance uniting live music, dance, aerial acrobatics and more. Topeka — Close out summer with a family getaway in Topeka, where outdoor fun, hands-on learning and kid-friendly attractions are easy to find. Camp Leavenworth (Sept. 18-19) offers two days of live musical performances, kids' crafting stations, sidewalk chalk art contests, yard games and a Friday night fireworks display, and most activities are available free of charge. Guests will also find booths highlighting local artisans, food trucks galore, fire pits for s'mores, bounce houses, face-painting stations, a silent disco for after-hours dancing and a Saturday morning 5K fun run. Holton — Join us on September 12th as we kick off the return of our Second Saturdays in Downtown Holton with the Harvest & Hue celebration.
