Fall for Northeast Kansas!

Fall is a beautiful time in Northeast Kansas and many communities have great fall festivals and activities to celebrate the season. Check out some of our fall favorites!




Atchison: Oktoberfest in downtown Atchison! September 28,2024 This 2-block vendor event never disappoints. It is always filled with beautiful, handcrafted goods, food and treats, fun festivities, and live music, all located in the downtown district on the 500 & 600 Blocks of Commercial Street.

Hiawatha:  The Maple Leaf Festival in Hiawatha is a fun, family-friendly festival! With inflatable games, live music, food trucks, and over 50 craft vendors there’s sure to be something for everyone! Join us on Saturday, September 28 around the courthouse square in downtown Hiawatha.


Kansas City: With rows of apple trees to pick from, a fishing pond and plenty of space to run and play, Cider Hill Family Orchard has become a quintessential fall tradition for families in KC. Hop on the Cider Hill Express children’s train, sip on fresh cider slushes and enjoy Cider Hill's famous cider donuts. Guests are welcome to pack a picnic and take family photos around the scenic property as well.

Lawrence: It's time to experience Lawrence's new passport, the Burger Battle! Sign up for free, taste your way around Lawrence, and vote for your favorite Burger in this epic showdown. Pass users can enter for grand prizes and ultimate burger sweepstakes!


Leavenworth: Looking for some free, family-friendly fun this fall? Camp Leavenworth (Sept. 20-21) offers two days of live musical performances, kids’ crafting stations, sidewalk chalk art contests, yard games and a Friday night fireworks display, and most activities are available free of charge. Guests will also find booths highlighting local artisans, food trucks galore, fire pits for s’mores, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a silent disco for after-hours dancing and a Saturday morning 5K fun run. And, as long as you’re making memories in “the First City of Kansas,” be sure to check out the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum across the street from the festival and take a spin on a restored 1913 “Carry-Us-All.”


Merriam: Join the excitement at Merriam Drive Live, the annual music fest in downtown Merriam! This rockin' event features a stellar lineup of local tribute bands, delicious food trucks, and a lively beer garden atmosphere. Held on the first Saturday of October, it's a perfect way to enjoy the crisp fall weather. Don't miss out on this unforgettable day of music and fun!

Miami County: Pumpkins, a corn maze, and fire pits. What can be more fall than that? How about cider donuts and steaming hot cider? That should do the trick. Ciderfest at the Louisburg Cider Mill features all those highlights along with vendors and tours. Stop in any time but visit Sept. 23-24 or Sept. 30-Oct. 1 for all of the added fun.


Olathe: The KC Pumpkin Patch isn't just a pumpkin patch– it’s an all-day escapade perfect for the whole family. Imagine a crisp fall day, the kind where the sun warms your face just enough, and the smell of fresh hay and sweet cider fills the air. Nestled alongside the serene 4-acre pond and century-old hedge trees, the south side of the farm is a haven of pumpkins, while the north side boasts the beautiful vineyards of KC Wine Co. Whether you’re in it for the pumpkins or the grapes, at KC Pumpkin Patch, adventure waits around every corner.

Overland Park: Immerse yourself in a spellbinding experience created exclusively for the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens by Quixotic! Terra Luna guides guests on a wild journey through the Arboretum's grounds, culminating in an immersive performance uniting live music, dance, aerial acrobatics and more. The show includes eight performances between September 12-15 and 19-22, with September 19 being an adults-only (21+) experience. Ticket prices range between $25 and $60, and can be purchased online.

Seneca: Seneca's Oktoberfest event, taking place on Saturday, October 12, promises a day filled with fun and festivities for all ages. The downtown craft fair will showcase unique handmade goods, perfect for early holiday shopping. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy a beer tasting festival, while live music and delicious food add to the vibrant atmosphere. Competitors can test their strength in the stein holding competition, and outdoor lovers can join the volksmarch, a traditional European walk. Mark your calendar for this unforgettable celebration in Downtown Seneca!

Topeka: Fall in Topeka, Kansas, bursts with vibrant festivals that capture the season’s charm! From Cider Days’ largest fall festival in northeast Kansas to mesmerizing displays at Garden Glow in Ward-Meade’s botanical garden and a full range of family activities at popular spots like Gary’s Berries and Berry Hill U-pick Farm, Topeka is brimming with your favorite fall festivities. Don’t let the season pass you by without experiencing the vibrant ventures awaiting you in the capital city!
